Uche Jombo might not be the most controversial actress in Nollywood, but she is certainly one of the most interesting. Well-known for living the dream, many were not surprised that she is one of the famous Dubai Girls. Let’s face it, anyone who faces negativity as much as Jombo had since her rise to fame in Nigeria would need lots of time exploring and cooling off in other countries away from all that hate. For her, Dubai is her detox destination, and the reasons are not far-fetched. She might be in her 40s, but Uche Jombo definitely has a fun side she is not afraid to show off.
Jombo’s Early Life in her Hometown in Abia State was a Different Kind of Fun
Her life might be fun and envy-worthy at the moment, but that has not always been the case. Uche Jombo was born on the 28th of December 1979 in her hometown of Abiriba in Abia State. This is also where she was raised by her mother alongside her two younger siblings, Josephine and Nelson Jombo.
Not much has been said about her parent’s marriage, but her mother had the bigger influence on her early life and upbringing.
Jombo grew up like every other village kid, but she was certainly different. First, she was a Tomboy, which meant that she did not fit in with the girls so much. She would then be enrolled in the church drama group, where she got the opportunity to express herself in the different roles she took on. She became so good at acting that the church decided to fund her secondary education to relieve her struggling mother.
The Actress has a Mathematics and Statistics Degree
Even though her early life was all about drama in church and even during her secondary school period, when the time to get a university degree came, Uche Jombo proved she was made of more. She studied Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Calabar.
After her first degree, she went further to get a second degree, and no, it was still not in acting or the dramatic arts.
For her second degree, Jombo studied Computer Programming at the Federal University of Technology Minna. It is still not known why she chose not to study drama, considering that she won the award for best drama student a couple of times in secondary school.
Speculations regarding this are that she thought of acting as a hobby at the time.

Jombo starred in her first movie in 1999 at 20 years of age while she was still a student. She apparently had to see herself and her younger ones through school, so acting was one of the ways she made money at the time. She has, however, come a very long way since her debut in Visa to Hell.
The actress has starred in well over 250 movies that have helped her gain widespread fame in Nigeria and beyond. For an actress who is often categorized among the older crop of Nollywood actresses, you would think she has slowed down, but that is not the case. She has simply transitioned to playing more mature roles. Among her most recent works are Wives on Strike (2016), Banana Island Ghost (2017), Heaven on My Mind (2018), and Blood Sisters (2022).
Even though she is still very much in demand as an actress, Jombo has since made the move to bigger things when she launched her production company Uche Jombo Studios. With this, she became a producer, a director, and a scriptwriter. You will find her production credits in movies like Nollywood Hustlers, Damage, and Heaven on my Mind.
This is just one of the many reasons why she is classified among the most successful actresses in Nigeria.

If you follow Uche Jombo on Instagram, you will definitely agree that she is one of the most fun actresses by a mile. There is no dull moment for her followers; she is either creating good magic in the studio, making some cool cash, or just generally living life and being her very fun self. One of the major ways she shows off her fun side is through the products she endorses.
It is not surprising that one of the most prominent brands she endorses at the moment is Wakanow. It fits right in with her love for traveling and exploring. In her own words, traveling is her love language. One of the major places she loves to explore is Dubai, right alongside her fellow Dubai Girls. Other brands she endorses include the new nation project back in 2014 and Glo since 2013.
How Did Uche Jombo Become One of the Dubai Girls?

The right question would be, how could she not? Truth be told, no one is more fit for that kind of lifestyle. So if you still don’t know who the Dubai girls are, Uche Jombo, alongside her fellow actress besties Ufoma McDermott, Chioma Akpotha, and Omoni Oboli, are the Dubai girls.
Apparently, they took a baecation to Dubai sometime in 2018 to relax and let off steam from the hassles of chasing the bag in Nigeria. After having such an amazing time touring and exploring the city, they decided to make it a yearly thing. This is how the Dubai Girls phrase was born.
Over the years, however, the idea has been expanded to accommodate other people who want to have the same experience as the actresses. They organize raffle draws and select lucky winners that will join them for an experience of a lifetime.
Jombo Has a Son From Her Marriage to Kenny Rodriguez
While Jombo is the right definition of fun, she has been very careful about keeping her personal life well away from the glare of the media. This notwithstanding, it is well-known that the actress had her dream wedding when she married her then Puerto Rican bae Kenny Rodriguez on May 16, 2012.
They had a quiet beach ceremony attended by family and close friends on the Island of Puerto Rico. Kenny is a nutritionist and a personal trainer based in New York.
A few years later, in May 2015, the couple welcomed a son they named Mathew Chinedu Rodriguez. Reports since then say the marriage crashed shortly after the birth of their son, but this has not been confirmed by either Jombo or Kenny himself.
She does not share pictures and videos of her son on her Insta handle, but all you have to do is check out Mathew’s handle to see how much fun the actress can be at home too.
